Volunteers may complete a 30-hour training course after which they are eligible to be certified as sexual assault crisis counselors. The training curriculum includes instruction in hospital and evidence collection protocol, child sexual abuse, working with law enforcement personnel, and providing advocacy for diverse populations. Volunteers receive on-going supervision and training to help develop and improve their skills. If a volunteer chooses to continue volunteer services after one year, they are required to complete an additional 4 hours of training each year. Training courses are provided at no cost to the volunteer, and are conducted at our offices in Willimantic and New London.
